Title: 11: Indispensable Relationships You Can’t Be Without
Author: Leonard Sweet
It was January of this year when I saw this in the bookstore and since I was planning to hoard as many books as I can that time, I got it. It seems to be interesting.
” Your destination and your journey are both important but neither is possible without any answer to this question: Who do you have with you?”
Sweet (the author) as I observe in this book is a wide reader. He’d site different authors from variety of book genre including the bible which made this book longer than it should be. This is the reason why I only gave this book a 4/5 rating. He could have concise each person’s description so it won’t appear redundant.
His vast knowledge about different bible stories and character was also very amusing and the main gist of each of those 11 indispensable person.
I’ve got a lot of favorite chapters and one of those is Deborah, the guardian, Rhoda, the little one and Yoda.
One of my most valuable learning from this book is about the courage of humble confidence. I have always loved the combination of those three values: courage, humility and confidence. If you have those three intact, you can always go the long way.
He was able to describe the 11 people in your life that though may not end up the way you wanted it to be, has somehow affected your life and you can never be who you are today without them in your lifetime. After reading this, you’ll try to categorize the people in your life and though they hit or slap you in the face, you can’t help but still be grateful for them.
Just some caution: This book is a religious book and therefore can bombard you with a lot of Bible scriptures. So if you are not the religious type, or not a Christian or an atheist maybe, might as well, read an excerpt first before getting a copy.
Some quotes from the Book:
It is not good for a man to be alone.
You need someone to point his or her bony finger in your face.
A Nathan helps us see the truth about ourselves.
A Jonathan maybe the scarcest species on planet Earth.
There are many kinds of monsters, may of them shapes like men and women.
Worry, doubt, fear and despair are the enemies which slowly brings us down to the ground and turn us to dust before we die.
