We find the book Ligo na U, Lapit na Me very versatile because it shows different kinds of writing.

It shows a combination of a typical life of a young adult and a non-mainstream type of love story that we commonly see in romance genre books. We also find the book very interesting to read because it doesn’t just focus on the main storyline. The protagonist gives his thoughts and views about the happenings and the things in the society with the combination of humor in his logic which gives appeal to the readers.

The beginning of the story is very interesting to read because it presents a perspective of a student or a young adult.

It shows the struggles every student must face in their school while showing intellectual views about his teachers. This part is the where we indulged ourselves in reading the story because of the humor that Eros Atalia gives while giving thoughts that almost every students can relate. It is also in the beginning where the story introduced her classmate Jen who is asking him the ideal date for suicide.

We find it less and less interesting as the story goes on and when the story shifted to a love story because the humor and intellectual passages that can be found in the beginning lessened.

The story of their relationship can be appealing to readers in our age because of the combination of erotic and romantic story that can be seen in our generation unlike love stories who are fully focused in the story so the readers will feel romantic excitement.

We can neither say that the story is great nor ugly because we are not in this kind of story so maybe other people can find it interesting.

We can find many quotable passages from the story because this is where we can say Eros Atalia is great at so it is okay for us that that story contains about 80% rants and his own views. These passages are the ones that uplift us from being bored from the story. If we can only put our favourite quotes from the story, we can actually fill one or two sets of pages containing quotes from Intoy.

We are also dismayed because we kept turning these boring pages hoping that he will find Jen at the end of the story.

The ending part of the story is somehow appealing because of his context about the concept of closure but it doesn’t cover up our feeling of dismay. But we can’t blame Eros Atalia because it is his way of endorsing the sequel of the story.

Overall, the story is not that great but the mystery of Jen and her sudden disappearance is what made us turn and turn pages.

If you read Bob Ong books, we somehow recommend this book because of intellectual rants just like Bob Ong but with a mixture of love story that doesn’t made an appeal to us.
