Stupid is Forever by Miriam Santiago (Book Review)

NonTitle: Stupid is Forever
Author: Miriam Defensor Santiago
Rating: 5/5

It’s not overrated as you think it is. It’s just plain awesome. Miriam’s wit, intelligence and charm will always be her brand over other Filipino politicians.

People who personally know her and who were able to listen to her speak, were very lucky to meet such passionate and courageous person. Many people were born intelligent but not everybody has the guts just like her.

The highlight of the book for me is not the jokes (but of course, it’s still funny as it is and if you’re going to ask me how to spell sarcasm, it spells as M-I-R-I-A-M D-E-F-E-N-S-O-R S-A-N-T-I-A-G-O), it’s her speeches that really made me love her even more.

It’s inspiring just like the others and she has that capacity to touch that part of you that says, “You can do something for this cancer-filled society – with all the corruption, dishonesty, drugs, illegal customs etc. even by just becoming yourself”.

Fortunately, we are at the cusp of a new ominous wave
of change in the political breach.
This wave is called social media.
For God's sake, save this country.
Anong pinagkaiba ng sperm at ng politiko?
Pareho silang may one in a million chance na
maging totoong tao.

I have realized why corrupt politicians do nothing
to improve the quality of public school education.
They are terrified of educated voters.
A true teacher does not terrorize important students
because a true teacher knows that it's his
job to cure ignorance.
Life is a consequences of our moral choices.
A leader performs three basic functions: organizational,
interpersonal and decisional.

No words can express how much we appreciate your love for this country a midst your illness. Your bravery is indomitable and your willingness to combat corruption is one of a kind. Thank you for loving the Filipino people. Thank you Miriam. 🙂
